Building Trust with Rebuilding Together St. Louis

Volunteers from our St. Louis location teamed up with Rebuilding Together St. Louis on Tuesday, October 4th, to help an elderly man in need. Employees in sales, engineering, marketing, and production all donated their time and worked together on a “punch list” of projects to help improve the man’s home.

Throughout the day, volunteers accomplished several important projects around the man’s house to help improve his quality of life. Projects included pulling out an old kitchen floor, repairing the subfloor, and updating it with fresh vinyl plank flooring. Volunteers from our maintenance department resurfaced concrete on the driveway, and another group custom-fabricated a six-foot driveway gate. On the other side of the yard, an Inside Sales Rep and Product Engineer custom-fabricated two solid wood slab doors for a detached garage. In addition, broken windowpanes were replaced, and brush was cleared and bagged from the front and back yards. A group tackled painting ceilings and walls in the primary bedroom, living room, and dining room and painted the entire foundation of the house and the entire detached cinder block garage.

We even used a product from a recently acquired Sika Company, Drylock, to waterproof the basement walls, and painted and installed non-skid rubber treads on the basement stairs, in addition to replacing two basement light fixtures, a new mailbox, and painted the house address for a fresh new look.

Rebuilding Together's mission is repairing homes, revitalizing communities, and rebuilding lives. At the end of the day, the Rebuilding Together “House Captain” gave an emotional speech to our group. He said in his 20 years of volunteering, this is only the second time in his service that a homeowner began crying because he was so grateful. Our employees experienced a rewarding day helping others and representing the Sika Spirit! Thank you to Rebuilding Together- St. Louis for letting us participate in your charitable program, which makes a difference for so many people.
