Performance over time is the only true test of any waterproofing system. Sika roofing has been providing waterproofing solutions for vegetative roofs, plazas, and other landscaped areas for over 40 years. With over 15 billion square feet of roofing and waterproofing membrane installed worldwide, Sika Sarnafil has developed a world class record for reliability and performance. The Sarnafil G476 and G476 Self Adhered membranes are specially engineered for subgrade environments, compounded to remain watertight in extreme conditions, including constant dampness, ponding water, high and low alkaline conditions, and exposure to plant roots, fungi and bacterial organisms. In addition, Sika roofing has been recognized throughout the industry for its innovative recycling program that takes back vinyl membranes to be recycled into new membrane products at the end of their useful life.

Most roofing membranes and many waterproofing membranes are not resistant to root penetration and are prone to fail due to root infiltration into the field seams and flashings. Sarnafil membranes are inherently root and algae resistant and require no additional barriers to be added to the system. The membranes have been tested at FLL and meet the recently released American National Standards Institute (ANSI) VR-1 Procedure for Investigating Resistance to Root Penetration on Vegetative Roofs test procedure.

Sika roofing has developed a national program with leading vegetative suppliers including Roofmeadow and LiveRoof that includes a true single-source warranty program for extensive green roof systems (less than 6" vegetated cover). The integration of Sika's waterproofing expertise with the vegetated cover know-how simplifies the design and project delivery process. Specifications, construction documents and trade coordination are no longer difficult tasks. A building owner can have lasting confidence that the vegetated roof cover with proper maintenance will perform as specified.

Sika roofing has the most extensive list of green roof assemblies that meet FM requirements including ASTM E108 for spread of flame, internal combustion (calorimeter), and foot traffic. These approvals eliminate the time consuming process of seeking FM approval on a project-by-project basis and help building owners avoid higher insurance premiums for unaccepted green roof systems.
