FAQ
1) What are the sustainability parameters that Sika will consider when assessing proposals?
All proposals should demonstrate a reduction in CO2 emissions:
- By including either post-consumer recycled materials, bio-based materials, compostable materials, reusable materials, and/or
- By showing a product lifecycle that contributes to a circular economy, which is defined as packaging that involves the sharing, leasing, reusing, repairing, refurbishing, and recycling of existing materials and products in a manner that extends the lifecycle of materials and products.
2) In addition to sustainability, what other parameters will Sika consider when assessing proposals?
Sustainability is one of six (6) factors that will be considered in evaluating all proposals and finalists’ presentations. In addition to sustainability, other factors include: feasibility, affordability, operational efficiency, logistical efficiency and marketability.
3) When are Packaging Challenge proposals due?
To participate, you must register by April 15th, 2025 at 11:59 PM EST (Eastern Standard Time). All proposals are due by the same date.
4) What is the format and where do I submit the Packaging Challenge proposals?
Proposals should be approximately 5-10 slides in PowerPoint or PDF format and should be submitted to William Costello at costello.william@us.sika.com
5) When will the Finalists be notified to take part in the Live Exhibition?
Participants selected as Finalists will be notified by June 1st, 2025 at 11:59 PM EST and will have to confirm their presence by June 17th at 11:59 PM EST.
6) What do I get if I am chosen as the Packaging Challenge winner?
The winner of the Packaging Challenge will be announced throughout the Sika organization globally through internal media, and externally through Sika’s main channels (website and social media platforms).
The winner will also have the opportunity to discuss a potential supply agreement with Sika. However, a supply agreement is not guaranteed and any potential agreement between Sika and the winner shall be subject to Sika’s business needs and discretion, as well as due diligence and negotiation.
7) How many proposals can I submit?
Participants can submit up to three (3) proposals.
8) What are the costs of participation in the Packaging Challenge?
There is no fee or charge to participate. However, if you choose to visit a Sika plant or are selected as a finalist to attend the Live Exhibition, you are responsible for all associated travel costs and ancillary expenses, including but not limited to all personal transport, meals and accommodations. Sika will provide the event room for the Live Exhibition presentation and standard audiovisual tools, the details of which will be provided to finalists in advance of the Live Exhibition.
