DIY Floating Boat Dock using SikaBond Construction Adhesive

For my floating dock I decided to use SikaBond Construction Adhesive to reinforce each plank prior to screwing them down. This flexible adhesive will create a watertight seal and prevent any excess water from seeping between the boards that would normally cause them to lift over time from weathering.

Supplies & Tools

  • SikaBond Construction Adhesive
  • Caulk Gun
  • 1/4 in. Board (For Spacing)
  • Utility Knife
  • Cordless Drill & Screws

Step 1: Board Spacing

In order to allow for shrinking/expanding of the boards as well as drainage I used a 1/4 in. sheet on wood to space each plank evenly.

Step 2: Gluing Down Boards

Using my caulk gun, I applied a bead of SikaBond Construction Adhesive along the top of each joist and gently positioned each board.

Note: You'll need to lay 1 or 2 boards at a time before applying more SikaBond Construction Adhesive.

Step 3: Securing the Boards

To complete my project I added 6 screws to fully secure each board, 2 screws per joist.

The screws were added as each board was applied.
