Step 1: Gather All Your Supplies
Before getting started, gather all the supplies you’ll need (listed above). Be sure to wear latex gloves and safety glasses for protection. This DIY Halloween wreath was inspired by the creativity of DIY content creators, and we’re excited to share our own version - crafted using our very own products.
Step 2: Creating Your Template
To create your wreath template, you can use a measuring tape or simply get creative with items you have in your garage. For this project, the wreath measures 20" in diameter with a 6" width. I made mine using a garbage can for the outer circle and a smaller planter for the center. If you prefer a more freeform approach, you can also shape your wreath by freehand using Sika Boom®.
Step 3: Read Instructions on Using Sika Boom
Before you begin, read the instructions for using Sika Boom®. Shake the can well at least 20 times, then attach the twist-on nozzle. When you are ready to start, hold the can upside down while dispensing.
Step 4: Create Your Wreath
Using your template, begin applying Sika Boom® directly onto the cardboard. Work in any direction until you’re satisfied with the shape, keeping in mind that the foam will expand as it cures. Be sure to fill in any gaps along the way.
Design Tip: Don’t worry about perfection! Uneven edges and extra texture will add to the spooky, handmade look.
Step 5: Add Your Halloween Decor
Add all of your Halloween decorations while the Sika Boom® is still tacky to ensure everything sticks securely. This is your chance to get creative! Arrange the skulls, bones, and spiders however you like.
Allow the decorations and Sika Boom® to full harden before moving to the next step.
Step 6: Cut The Cardboard & Hang
Once the wreath has fully hardened, the decorations will be securely attached to the cardboard base. Trim any excess cardboard that is visible, leaving only the portion directly behind the Sika Boom®. Once trimmed, your wreath is ready to hang and display!
Want to add some color to your wreath? Scroll down to step 7.
Step 7: Spray Paint Wreath Black (Optional)
If your door is white (like mine), adding some color to your wreath can help it stand out and achieve the look you want. For a spooky vibe, I chose to spray paint the entire wreath black.
Design Tip: Don’t be afraid to get creative; choose colors and accents that complement your Halloween décor!
Step 8: Let Dry & Hang
Once your wreath is completely dry, it’s ready to hang and show off your DIY Halloween creation!
Tip: For extra stability, cut a small hole in the back of the cardboard to create a secure hanging point.
Happy Halloween!
