SikaWall®-4110 Tersus Hydrophobic Coating

Smooth Hydrophopic Coating 

A 100% modified acrylic coating designed to provide both water repellence and enhanced resistance to environmental soiling. The water repellent properties of the coating make the surface hydrophobic as well as more resistant to mold and mildew. When rain water contacts the surface, it beads and carries away dirt, soil and debris in its pathway. The built in anti-soiling properties of the coating resist dirt and staining reducing maintenance costs and extending a building’s aesthetic appeal.

Usage

Provides enhanced protection and an aesthetically pleasing surface color for a variety of wall surfaces. Can be used to change or refresh the apperance of exterior above grade vertical walls and overhead surfaces of new or existing structures.

Product Declaration

The hydrophobic effect is not immediate. It develops approximately 30 days after application through weathering and UV exposure. The time may vary based on environmental conditions and UV exposure.

Shelf Life

Two (2) years, when properly stored in original container.

Storage Conditions

  • Store in a cool, dry place protected from freezing, extreme heat and direct sun. Store at no less than 40°F (4.5°C).
  • Do not stack pallets.

Application Information

Ambient Air Temperature

  • When temperatures less than 40°F (4.5°C) prevail, provide supplementary heat during installation and drying period for at least 24 hours after installation and until dry.
  • Do not apply in ambient temperature above 100°F (38°C) or surface temperature above 120°F (49°C).

Drying Time

Under average conditions of 70 °F (21 °C) and 50% Relative Humidity

  • Typically dry to touch within 2 to 4 hrs.
  • To recoat, allow minimum of 6 hours drying time per coat
  • Lower surface or air temperatures and higher relative humidity will extend the drying time.
  • Protect coating from rain or other precipitation and temperatures less than 40°F (4.5°C) for a minimum of 24 hours and until dry.

Coverage

900-1,400 ft2 at 5-8 wet mils (single coat)

Some applications may require two coats.

Coverage may vary depending on the texture, porosity and color of the existing substrate.
Application steps

CLEANING

Clean coating with water only. The use of detergents or soaps will degrade the hydrophobic effect. After detergent cleaning, the hydrophobic effect will reactivate in approximately 30 days time, depending on exposure conditions.
