LaHabra® Superhold

Liquid Bonding Agent For Plaster and Concrete

LaHabra® Superhold is a premium quality, ethylene vinyl acetate emulsion which allows for the adhesion of gypsum plasters and portland cement materials to existing surfaces. LaHabra® Superhold is a unique formulation that is ready-to-use, high build, film forming, and re-emulsifiable. It has a blue tint so the area of application can be easily identified.

Usage

LaHabra® Superhold may be used in both interior or exterior applications for bonding new portland cement or gypsum plasters to existing substrates, including stucco colorcoat, concrete, cementitious mortars, thin set cements, patching compounds, and veneer plaster systems. It may be applied to structurally sound existing surfaces such as portland cement scratch and brown coats, stucco colorcoat, concrete, concrete block, brick, tile, stone, gypsum wallboard, terrazzo, glass, and plywood underlayments. It may be used over damp or dry surfaces provided that there is no source of constant moisture.

Shelf Life

Storage Conditions

Do not store in direct sunlight. Storage temperature should be between 50°F (10° C) and 90°F (32° C). Protect from freezing.

1 gallon (3.8 ltr) covers approximately 250 to 300 sq. ft. (23 to 27.6 m2).

Note: Coarse or porous surfaces may require more material.
Application steps

SUBSTRATE PREPARATION

The receiving surface should be clean, free of dust, dirt, oil, grease, loose stone, loose sand, deteriorating paint or other foreign materials which could impair bonding ability. Smooth surfaces should be abraded before application. On porous surfaces, lightly dampen before applying LaHabra® Superhold.

Try a test patch on questionable surfaces and allow to dry for 24 hours. If LaHabra® Superhold curls or cracks, the surface must be cleaned thoroughly prior to application.

APPLICATION

LaHabra® Superhold is ready to use. It needs no mixing or stirring. Do not dilute with water. It may be applied by hand with brush or roller, or spray applied using an airless sprayer delivering at least 40 psi (2.8 kg/cm2), with an orifice size no smaller than .020 inch (.5 mm). A larger orifice may be necessary. Spray approximately 18" from surface in a crisscross pattern. Apply new materials within 72 hours of the application of Superhold.

For maximum adhesion of new cementitious materials, use SikaWall®-73 Adacryl Admix & Bonder as an admix (1 part Adacryl to 3 parts water) plus LaHabra® Superhold (undiluted) on the substrate.

CLEANING OF TOOLS

Clean all tools and equipment with detergent and water immediately after use. Clean up spills, splatters and overspray before it is allowed to dry.
