SikaWall® Fastwall® Stucco Base Concentrate Pump Grade

Formerly LaHabra® Fastwall Stucco Base Concentrate Pump Grade.

A factory controlled high-quality blend of portland cement, lime, fibers and proprietary additives that conforms to ASTM C926 which is designed as a replacement to job-site mixed scratch and brown basecoats. Sand conforming to ASTM C 926 requirements is added at job site. Designed for both spray and trowel application.

  • Requires the  addition of water and sand; easy to mix and use with consistent results.
  • Concentrated for use with local sand complying with ASTM C926.
  • Can be installed up from 3/8 to 1/2 in. (12.7mm) thick in one application.

Usage

As a stucco base, apply SikaWall® Fastwall® Stucco Base Concentrate Pump Grade over:
  • SikaWall®-9000 PermaLath® 1000 glass fiber lath or metal lath over:
    • An appropriate water resistive barrier and slip sheet over continuous sheathing.
    • Expanded polystyrene (EPS) per Sika specification.
  • Properly prepared masonry and concrete substrates.

Application

Application steps

SURFACE PREPARATION

  • On masonry and concrete, apply only to surfaces that are sound, clean, dry, unpainted, and free of any residue which may affect the ability of SikaWall® Fastwall® Stucco Base Concentrate Pump Grade to bond to the surface.
  • Solid bases shall have sufficient suction (ability to absorb water) or surface roughness or both to ensure an adequate bond for SikaWall® Fastwall® Stucco Base Concentrate Pump Grade.
  • On lathed construction, apply to lathing installed in accordance with ASTM C1063.
  • SikaWall® Fastwall® Stucco Base Concentrate Pump Grade requires a water-resistive barrier installed and flashed in accordance with the building code and to form a water-shedding surface. Consult local building codes for drainage requirements.
  • Install Water Resistive barrier (type and method of application) per specifications and building codes.
  • Do not apply to substrates which are frozen or contain frost or ice.
  • Apply to surface prepared for portland cement plaster. Mix and install scratch and brown coats in accordance with ASTM C926.

MIXING

  • Use clean equipment for mixing and preparation.
  • Start with approximately 3 gal (11.35 L) of clean potable water. And approximately 60 lbs. (27.2 kg) of the sand. Add 1 bag of SikaWall® Fastwall® Stucco Base Concentrate Pump Grade. Add remaining sand along with additional water- approximately 1-3 gal (3.8-11.35 L) for workability. Total amount of sand equals 2 ½ - 3 cubic ft (200-240 lbs or 91-109 kg). Allow the material to slake then break set. If needed, add water for workability. 
  • Use cool, potable water; let hose run to clear it of hot water.
  • Sand: Sample and test in accordance with ASTM C897 or C144, and grade within the following limits:

  • Use SikaWall® Fastwall® Stucco Base Concentrate Pump Grade immediately after mixing.
  • Do not retemper SikaWall® Fastwall® Stucco Base Concentrate Pump Grade.
  • SikaWall-73 Adacryl Admix & Bonder as an admix: use up to 1 gal (3.8L) per bag of SikaWall® Fastwall® Stucco Base Concentrate Pump Grade. After the dry components and the majority of the water has been mixed, add the acrylic admix in place of 1 gal (3.8L) of water. Mix no longer than required to provide a uniform mixture. DO NOT OVER-MIX. Over-mixing entrains excessive amounts of air which weaken the material. Do not re-temper mixes over 20 minutes old.
  • Only Sika approved additives can be added to this product.

NOTE: If SikaWall-73 Adacryl Admix & Bonder is mixed into SikaWall® Fastwall® Stucco Base Concentrate Pump Grade and Portland cement-based stucco finish is used, then SikaWall-73 Adacryl Admix & Bonder must be used in the Portland cement-based stucco finish also. No unapproved additives are allowed.

APPLICATION

  • Read the entire label or product data sheet before using this product. For complete application procedures refer to ICC-ESR 2564. For more complete installation recomendations, see Sika system specification and details.
  • Thoroughly dampen concrete and masonry substrate if necessary before applying SikaWall® Fastwall® Stucco Base Concentrate Pump Grade.
  • Apply by hand trowel or plaster gun to a minimum 3/8 in. (9.5 mm) thickness. The maximum thickness applied in one pass should be 1/2 in. (12.7 mm).
  • Level the surface directly after application or score horizontally to form a mechanical key for succeeding second coat. If applying SikaWall® Fastwall® Stucco Base Concentrate Pump Grade at a thickness greater than 1/2” or for large ceiling areas apply a second coat after allowing the first coat to dry.
  • If additional SikaWall® Fastwall® Stucco Base Concentrate Pump Grade is not applied the same day, moisten the dry SikaWall® Fastwall® Stucco Base Concentrate Pump Grade as necessary before applying second coat.
  • Keep stucco basecoat moist by fogging walls with water for the first 24-48 hours after initial hardening. Moist curing must be increased in dry weather and may be reduced in damp weather. Moist curing replaces mix water lost to evaporation and absorption. It improves hydration for strength and reduces volume-loss stresses. Insufficient moist curing can be a cause of cracking. Beyond 24 hours, additional moist and dry curing may also be needed to provide sufficient strength to the basecoat to resist the pressure of finish coat application. After moist curing, allow the stucco basecoat to air dry. refer to local codes for additional curing requirements.
  • For Portland cement-based stucco finish, lightly moisten the surface of SikaWall® Fastwall® Stucco Base Concentrate Pump Grade before application.
