SikaWall® Fiber-47 Scratch & Brown Concentrate

• Binder: Portland cement.
• Reinforcement: Polypropylene fibers.
• Add sand at job site meeting ASTM C 926 requirements. 

12 months from date of production if stored properly in original, unopened and undamaged sealed packaging.

Store dry, off ground and protect from rain and moisture.

Sets in 30-45 minutes after mixing, depending on conditions.

Approximate coverage, depending on the condition of substrate and the thickness of application is based on uniform thickness and zero waste factor (adjust accordingly):

• at 3/8 in. (9.5mm): 100-140 ft² (9.3-13 m²)
• at 3/4 in. (19mm): 50-70 ft² (4.6-6.5 m²)
• Coverage may vary due to ambient temperature, surface temperature, surface porosity, mixing methods, application methods, amount of water, wall type and metal lath type. Coverage must be verified in the field using the same procedures and conditions that will be present at the project.

• On concrete masonry and concrete, apply only to surfaces that are sound, clean, dry, unpainted, and free of any residue which may affect the ability of SikaWall® Fiber-47 Scratch & Brown Concentrate to bond to the surface.
• Solid bases shall have sufficient suction (ability to absorb water) or surface roughness or both to ensure an adequate bond for SikaWall® Fiber-47 Scratch & Brown Concentrate.
• On lathed construction, apply to lathing installed in accordance with ASTM C1063.
• SikaWall® Fiber-47 Scratch & Brown Concentrate requires a water-resistive barrier installed and flashed in accordance with the local building code and to form a water-shedding surface. 
• Install Water Resistive barrier (type and method of application) per specifications and local building codes.
• Do not apply to substrates which are frozen or contain frost or ice.
• Apply to surface prepared for portland cement plaster. Mix and install scratch and brown coats in accordance with ASTM C926.

• Use clean equipment for mixing and preparation.
• Mixing ratio: Mix 5.5-6.5 gal. (20.5-24.5L) of cool potable water and 3-4.5 ft³ (240-360 lbs or 109-163 kg) of sand that conforms to ASTM C8097 or ASTM  C926 requirements to each bag of SikaWall® Fiber-47 Scratch & Brown Concentrate at the time of use.
• Actual water and sand quantity will vary depending on the density, gradation and moisture content of the sand. Optimum sand additions depend on the sand gradation. Finer sand will result in a lower total sand addition to the SikaWall® Fiber-47 Scratch & Brown Concentrate. Poor sand quality not conforming  to ASTM C 926 may cause cracking and weakened plaster.
• Use cool, clean, potable water; let hose run to clear it of hot water.
• Mix at low speed for a minimum of 3 minutes, until the mixture is smooth. Do not overmix; never mix more than 5 minutes.
• Mix each batch for the same amount of time.
• Mix same size batches using the same amount of water and sand, to ensure consistency.
• For hand applications, stop mixer and allow mix to slake for 8 minutes.
• Briefly re-mix before using (approximately 2 minutes).
• Use SikaWall® Fiber-47 Scratch & Brown Concentrate immediately after mixing.
• Do not retemper SikaWall® Fiber-47 Scratch & Brown Concentrate.
• SikaWall-73 Adacryl Admix & Bonder as an admix: use up to 1 gal (3.8L) per bag of SikaWall® Fiber-47 Scratch & Brown Concentrate. After the dry components and the majority of the water has been mixed, add the acrylic admix in place of 1 gal (3.8L) of water. Mix no longer than required to provide a uniform mixture. DO NOT OVER-MIX. Over-mixing entrains excessive amounts of air which weaken the material. Do not re-temper mixes over 20 minutes old.
• Only Sika approved additives can be added to this product.

NOTE: If SikaWall-73 Adacryl Admix & Bonder is mixed into SikaWall® Fiber-47 Scratch & Brown Concentrate and Pa portland cement-based stucco finish is used, then SikaWall-73 Adacryl Admix & Bonder must be used in the portland cement-based stucco finish also. No unapproved additives are allowed.

• Read the entire label before using this product. All materials are to be installed in compliance with local building code requirements, ASTM C926 and the current manufacturer’s specifications.
• Thoroughly dampen concrete and masonry substrate if necessary before applying SikaWall® Fiber-47 Scratch & Brown Concentrate.
• Apply by hand trowel or plaster gun to a minimum thickness approximately 3/8 in. (9.5mm) thickness per coat. On lathed construction the total thickness of both coats together shall be 3/4-7/8 inch (19-22mm).
• Surface of the first or scratch coat shall be scored or horizontally or in one direction on ceilings to form a mechanical key for succeeding second or brown coat. Moist cure the scratch coat for 48 hours in accordance with the building code.
• For hand trowel applications dampen the surface of the dry SikaWall® Fiber-47 Scratch & Brown Concentrate as necessary prior to application of second coat. Darby, then rod the brown (second) coat to a true and even plane or specified tolerances. Float the brown coat uniformly to provide a surface receptive to the application of the finish coat.
• Interrupt SikaWall® Fiber-47 Scratch & Brown Concentrate application only at junctions of wall planes, openings or control joints to avoid cold joints and abrupt changes in the uniform appearance of succeeding coats.
• SikaWall® Fiber-47 Scratch & Brown Concentrate must be moist cured for the first 48 hours after it has set. Moist curing must be increased in dry weather and may be reduced in damp weather. There should be no visible water on the surface when a succeeding coat is applied.
• After moist curing, allow SikaWall® Fiber-47 Scratch & Brown Concentrate Sanded to dry thoroughly before applying acrylic primers or finishes.
• Allow SikaWall® Fiber-47 Scratch & Brown Concentrate to dry an additional 3 days if applying a SikaWall acrylic primer or additional 5 days if applying a SikaWall acrylic or portland cement finish.
• For portland cement-based stucco finish, lightly moisten the SikaWall® Fiber-47 Scratch & Brown Concentrate surface before application. NOTE: When a portland cement finish coat is to be applied the surface must be open (not smooth) by floating.
• The double back method is allowed per ASTM C926, the IBC and IRC.
