SikaWall®-10 Stucco Prime

100% Acrylic-Based Primer for Stucco 

A 100% acrylic-based primer for use with Sika Facades textured finishes. It helps alleviate substrate readthrough, aids with color uniformity and reduces finish shadowing.

  • Minimizes suction of cement base coats and cementitious substrates and improves the workability of finish coat application.
  • Reduces the potential of efflorescence in stucco and other cementitious substrates.

Usage

SikaWall® Stucco Prime is used when preparing conventional stucco (brown coat), SikaWall Stucco Base, poured concrete or unit masonry prior to the application of Sika Facades finishes. It helps alleviate shadowing and enhance the performance of the stucco system.

  • Minimizes suction of cement base coats and cementitious substrates and improves the workability of finish coat application.
  • Reduces the potential of efflorescence in stucco and other cementitious substrates.

Shelf Life

Two (2) years when properly stored in the original container.

Storage Conditions

  • Store in a cool, dry place protected from freezing, extreme heat and direct sun. Store at no less than 40°F (4°C).
  • Do not stack pallets.

Volatile organic compound (VOC) content

ASTM D3960 (based in part on EPA Method 24)    

<100 g/L less water and exempt solvents.

Application

Application Information

Ambient Air Temperature

  • When temperatures less than 40°F (4.5°C) prevail, provide supplementary heat during installation and drying period for at least 24 hours after installation and until dry.
  • Do not apply in ambient temperature above 100°F (38°C) or surface temperature above 120°F (49°C).

Drying Time

Under average conditions of 70 °F (21 °C) and 50% Relative Humidity

  • Primer will typically be dry within 24 hours. 
  • Drying time is dependent on humidity, air temperature, sun exposure, surface conditions and film thickness. Lower temperature, higher humidity and application in shaded areas will extend drying time.
  • Protect coating from rain or other precipitation and temperatures less than 40°F (4.5°C) for a minimum of 24 hours and until dry

Coverage

750-1,250 ft2 (70-116 m2) per pail. 

Coverage may vary depending on the texture, porosity and color of the existing substrate.
