NFPA 285 Compliant Wall Systems

Understanding NFPA 285

NFPA 285 is a standardized fire test developed by the National Fire Protection Association to measure how flames spread along an exterior wall system that contains combustible components.

Acheiving Fire Performance and Energy Efficiency

Modern buildings are designed to be more energy efficient than ever before, which often means incorporating continuous insulation and air/water-resistive barriers into wall assemblies. These improvements help control moisture, move the dew point outside the wall, and improve thermal performance.

Many of these materials are combustible. It's critical to ensure that these products are integrated into a system that still meets the fire performance standards outlined in the International Building Code (IBC).

Solutions that Meet NFPA 285 Standards

Parex offers wall systems that have been tested and qualified to meet NFPA 285 requirements when installed according to our specifications. These assemblies:

  • Deliver proven fire performance for noncombustible construction
  • Meet the requirements of both the IBC and the International Energy Conservation Code (IECC)
  • Are backed by third-party testing, detailed architectural drawings, and comprehensive warranties

Explore Parex's wide range of wall systems that meet NFPA 285 standards. When specifying these systems you can design building envelopes that satisfy today’s fire performance and energy efficiency requirements.
