PAREX® WeatherSeal Trowel-On WG
PAREX® WeatherSeal Trowel-On WG is a 100% Acrylic based water-resistive barrier that is designed for use as air/water-resistive barrier behind exterior claddings. PAREX® WeatherSeal Trowel-On WG is highly flexible: can bridge existing hairline cracks and accommodate small movements.
- One continuous air/water-resistive barrier for buildings with multiple claddings (can be used with most code-compliant claddings).
- Can be applied with a Trowel
- One component, easy to apply formulation that meets low VOC requirements in all 50 states.
- Water Clean Up
- Rugged membrane resists damage after installation.
- Allows for flexible construction scheduling with a 6 month outdoor exposure rating (surface must be clean of dirt and contaminants before the application of EIFS adhesive)

Application
Drying Time
The drying time of PAREX® WeatherSeal Trowel-On WG depends on the air temperature, relative humidity and wind conditions.
Coverage
As a water-resistive barrier (One coat):
35-40 mils wet / 23-27 mils dry 150-190 ft2 (14-17.6 m2)
SUBSTRATE PREPARATION
- The substrate should be flat and straight with no planar irregularities over 1/8 in. (3mm) within a 4 ft. (1.2m) span. Caution: Irregular substrates will produce inconsistent adhesion.
- Protruding surface irregularities, including lipping at sheathing board edges, shall not exceed 1/32 in. (0.8mm).
- Remove surface contaminants such as dust or dirt without damaging the substrate.Painted substrates must have the paint removed by methods which result in removal of a minimum of 90% percent of the paint from the surface area that will receive WeatherSeal Trowel WG. Any minor residual paint must be sound and well adhered, and not inhibit bond.
- For additional options for surface preparation, contact Sika FacadesTechnical Support.
MIXING
- Use clean equipment for mixing and preparation.
- Do not add water. Stir PAREX® WeatherSeal Trowel-On WG to a uniform consistency. Avoid creating air bubbles or foam.
- No additives of any kind, such as rapid binders, anti-freeze, accelerators, fillers, pigments, etc. should be added under any circumstances.
APPLICATION
Read the entire label before using this product.
- Substrate surfaces shall be dry, clean, and sound, free of water repellents, form release agents, or other substances that may interfere with the bond.
- Apply either SikaWall 9000 Sheathing Fabric or Parex 355 4 oz. mesh embedded in PAREX® WeatherSeal Trowel-On WG to all:
- Sheathing joints
- Gaps in sheathing up to 1/4 in. (6mm) wide.
- Open holes up to 1 in. (25mm) across. Correct larger gaps and holes by replacing sheathing.
- Back flanges of track and flashing.
- Embed 4 in. strips of either SikaWall Sheathing Fabric or Parex 355 4 oz. mesh by applying PAREX® WeatherSeal Trowel-On WG per application instructions to 4 in. of each side of the joint and embed the reinforcing fabric with a stainless steel trowel so that the color of the fabric is not visible.
- PAREX® WeatherSeal Trowel-On WG is applied by trowel. PAREX® WeatherSeal Trowel-On WG that embeds SikaWall Sheathing Fabric may be applied by taping knife.
- Cover the entire surface of the taped substrate with PAREX® WeatherSeal Trowel-On WG. The transparency of the PAREX® WeatherSeal Trowel-On WG is not an indication of the thickness.
- PAREX® WeatherSeal Trowel-On WG with gauging aggregate is self gauging. It should be applied to the thickness of the aggregate. Drag marks indicate it is being applied too thin. Thicker application than required reduces coverage and extends setting and drying time.
