Cost Effective Performance
Unlike mechanically-attached roofing systems where the membrane is secured to the system using fasteners, adhered roofing systems secure the membrane to the system using adhesive. Sika Sarnafil has many different types of adhesives to meet your projects specific needs such as water-based, solvent-based, low/no VOC, low-rise foam and self-adhered. Similar to a Sarnafil Adhered Roofing System, below are some of the reasons why a Sikaplan adhered roofing system might be the best fit for your project.
Adhered Sikaplan System
ADHERED SYSTEM BENEFITS:
- Cost competitive against TPO and EPDM
- Contour to uniquely shaped roofs
- For both low and steep slope applications
- Aesthetically pleasing
- High-wind uplift resistance
- Eliminates sheet flutter and “billowing”
- Best option for “non-nailable” substrates
- No fastener penetration in the membrane
- Adhered feltback membrane minimizes substrate imperfections
THE SIKAPLAN SINGLE-STEP SOLUTION
Why install a membrane still working out the kinks like TPO or a dark colored roof increasing your cooling bill in the summer, when you can install Sikaplan for the same price. Sikaplan membrane, when used in combination with a water-based, single-step adhesive, is a very attractive, proven, cost competitive option for building owners who want a single-ply roof system but either need a lower cost system or might not own the building long enough to need the 25-30 year performance of a Sarnafil system. A water-based, single-step adhesive lowers costs by minimizing material usage through the use of recommended application methods, and by facilitating faster applications on top of the already cost competitive Sikaplan membrane. A win, win.
Mechanically Attached Sikaplan System
MECHANICALLY-FASTENED SYSTEM BENEFITS:
- Cost competitive against TPO and EPDM
- Fast and easy installation
- Best for low slope applications
- Standard uplift resistance
- Proven PVC membrane
A MEMBRANE DESIGNED FOR MECHANICALLY-ATTACHED APPLICATIONS
The Sikaplan Fastened membrane is a thermoplastic PVC roof membrane used in mechanically-attached systems. Similar to the Sarnafil S 327 membrane, this roof membrane is polyester reinforced, which provides the high breaking and tearing strength needed to prevent excessive elongation and sheet deformation under the stresses produced by the lifting of the membrane by wind in this type of system. Sikaplan Fastened membrane is formulated to match the performance level of typical PVC sheets offered in the industry whereas Sarnafil is formulated to perform the longest in the industry.
