Sikaflex® Primer-449

PRIMER FORMULATED TO PROMOTE ADHESION OF SIKAFLEX® URETHANE SEALANTS TO POROUS SUBSTRATES

Sikaflex® Primer-449 is designed to promote adhesion to porous substrates such as porous PVC, solvent-based enamel, PPG’s fluorocarbon Duranar-finish, and certain plastics such as ABS and Plexiglass. Not designed for applications on concrete or cementitious surfaces.

Usage

Most substrates only require a primer if testing shows a need for it, or where the sealant will be subjected to immersion conditions after cure. Certain substrates require a primer under all conditions.

Storage Conditions

Sikaflex® Primer-449 shall be stored in dry conditions, protected from direct sunlight.

Store between 40°F - 95°F (4°C - 35°C)

SUBSTRATE PREPARATION

The key to good bonding with Sikaflex sealants/primers is surface preparation. Specifically, all surfaces must be dry and free of dirt, grease, mold release agents, loose mortar, laitance, and any foreign matter. If the joint contains old sealant, it and all extraneous material must be removed and the substrate cleaned by mechanical means. Apply primers at substrate temperatures of 40°F and rising. Surface must be frost free.

CLEANING OF TOOLS

In case of spill or leaks, wear suitable protective equipment, contain spill, collect with absorbent material, and transfer to suitable container. Ventilate area. Avoid contact. Dispose of in accordance with current, applicable, local, state and federal regulations.
