The San Bruno Recreation & Aquatic Center showcases how EIFS can elevate both the performance and visual identity of a major community facility. By integrating Parex EIFS with metal panels, window curtain walls, and tile systems, the design team achieved a modern, cohesive exterior that blends naturally with the site’s earthy surroundings. The fine finish in multiple colors reinforces the building’s connection to the surrounding landscape, while its use inside, particularly in the lobby and around the elevated track, creates a seamless transition between exterior and interior spaces. This continuity enhances the center’s welcoming atmosphere and contributes to a unified architectural expression that residents experiencefrom the moment they arrive.

Beyond aesthetics, EIFS played a critical role in meeting the project’s energy and performance goals. The use of 3” and 4” EPS insulation panels enabled the building to comply with California’s Title 24 energy standards while maintaining a cost-effective approach compared to alternative cladding systems. The inclusion of EIFS with drainage provided the essential of durability and moisture management provided long-term protection without added maintenance demands. Additionally, the Parex weather barrier was used behind other claddings at a notable cost savings, further supporting the project’s budget and performance requirements. These features deliver long-term energy efficiency, durability, and visual appeal, supporting the community’s needs for decades to come.
