SikaShield® S-60

Self Adhering Sheet Waterproofing Membrane, designed for post-applied applications. Ideal for below grade and between slab concrete substrates.

SikaShield® S-60 is a proprietary composite, uniquely designed to provide high strength, low temperature adhesion and high temperature stability in a superior waterproofing membrane. A tough cross-laminated film forms a resilient barrier against physical damage and water migration. It is a cold applied system requiring no heat or special equipment to install.

Usage

SikaShield® S-60 is ideal for waterproofing below grade concrete, masonry structures and wood surfaces where in-service temperatures will not exceed 130 °F (54 °C). It can also be applied to split slab construction both above and below grade as well as earth sheltered structures.

Sold in a cartoned roll 1 roll per carton. Each roll is 3 ft. x 66.7 ft.

Storage Conditions

Store in a clean and dry area with temperatures between 40–100 °F. Do not store in direct sunlight. Do not allow to freeze. If material becomes frozen, contact Sika prior to using.

APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS

CURE MECHANISM
Temperature - Apply SikaShield® S-60 when surface and air temperatures are 50 °F and above. When SikaShield® S-60 must be applied in cold weather (under 50 °F), consult with Sika Technical Representative for cold weather application instructions.

SUBSTRATE PREPARATION

Surface Preparation - Surface must be clean, dry, free of voids, and structurally sound. Remove dust, laitance, grease, curing compounds, bond inhibiting impregnations, waxes, and any other contaminants. Concrete must be properly dried for a minimum of 7 days, ideally 14 days. If applying membrane in less than 14 days, consult with Sika Technical Representative for process for applying membrane to green concrete. Repair any defects and remove sharp protrusions as well as form match lines.


Primers - Apply SikaBit® Primer AW by roller or sprayer at a rate of 450–500 ft2/gal. Allow primer to dry one hour or until primer is slightly tacky. Drying time may be longer in cooler temperatures. Reprime if area is
contaminated by dust or other debris, apply SikaShield® S-60 as soon as primer is dry. NEVER apply primer directly to SikaShield® S-60 membrane.
