Preformed isobutylene tripolymer tape

SikaLastomer®-95 is a non-reactive, tacky elastic butyl tape for use as a lap joint seal where improved strength and elasticity over general purpose butyl tapes is critical.

Usage

SikaLastomer®-95 is designed for sealing Standing Seam Roof (SSR) endlaps and lap joints for metal building roofs, skylights, roof curbs, smoke vents, air conditioning equipment, curtain wall joints and perimeter areas around windows and doors. For transportation applications such as trailers and RVs, SikaLastomer®-95 is suitable for sealing rivet seams and lap joints of metals, paint coatings, and wood. This product is suitable for experienced professional users only.
Tests with actual substrates and conditions have to be performed ensuring adhesion and material compatibility.

Technical Information

CHEMICAL RESISTANCE

SikaLastomer®-95 is generally resistant to fresh water, seawater, water vapor, ozone and alcohols; temporarily resistant to diluted acids and caustic solutions; not resistant to aliphatic, aromatic and keytone solvents and oils.

Surface Preparation

Surfaces must be clean, dry and free from dust and contaminants.

Application

SikaLastomer®-95 can be processed between temperatures (climate and product) of 5 °C and 50 °C (41 °F and 122 °F) but changes in application properties have to be considered. The optimum temperature for substrate and process material is between 15 °C and 25 °C (59 °F and 77 °F).

SikaLastomer®-95 is to be applied flat against the prepared surface. It is critcal to avoid air entrapment and folding of the tape during application. A minimum rolling force of 2 kg (4.4 lb) across the entire width of the tape is required. In lap joints utilizing bolts or rivets, visual compression of the mastic is needed to ensure proper wet out of the tape across both surfaces.

 

Removal

Uncured SikaLastomer®-95 may be removed from tools and equipment with Sika® Remover-208 or another suitable solvent. 
Hands and exposed skin have to be washed immediately using a suitable industrial hand cleaner and water.
Do not use solvents on skin.
