BLOCK FILLER

A one-component, water-based block filler based on Silica Fortified RubberTM chemistry. It has been specifically designed for use with Sikagard® AWB air/ water-resistive barrier products.

Usage

Sikagard® AWB 600 FL is designed to prepare rough, porous concrete/masonry substrates for subsequent application of Sikagard® AWB fluid-applied air/water-resistive barrier products.
Sikagard® AWB 600 FL is also designed to promote the adhesion of Sikalastic® Tape AWB-970 NP self-adhesive membranes to rough CMU surfaces. It can be used to create tight, seamless expansion joints and to facilitate the adhesion of through-wall flashing systems.

Storage Conditions

Store Sikagard® AWB 600 FL in a cool, dry place protected from freezing. Store at no less than 4 ˚C (40 °F). Protect from extreme heat and direct sunlight.

Drying Time

Sikagard® AWB 660 can be applied once Sikagard® AWB 600 FLL has cured to a hardened, moderately tacky state. This typically occurs within 4 hours when applied to dry CMU at 70 ˚F (21 ˚C) at 50% relative humidity. Temperature, humidity, wind, and substrate moistness can all affect curing time.

APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS

SUBSTRATE PREPARATION

The substrate shall be dry, clean, sound, and free of release agents, paint or other reside or coatings. Verify substrate is flat, masonry joints are struck flush or struck clean, and the substrate is continuous and unbroken. Any missing or damaged mortar or block shall be repaired or replaced to provide a flat surface prior to application of Sikagard® AWB 600 FL
Allow mortared structures to cure for a minimum of 10 days prior to application of Sikagard® AWB 600 FL. Point or seal any cracks or voids over 2 MM (1/16").

Unsatisfactory conditions shall be reported to the general contractor and corrected before the application of Sikagard® AWB 600 FL.

APPLICATION

The upper portion of all wall assemblies shall be protected from precipitation and other forms of moisture ingress before the application of Sikagard® AWB 600 FL.
Do not apply Sikagard® AWB 600 FL to substrates that are below 4 ˚C (40 ˚F), or if the ambient air temperature is expected to drop below 4 ˚C (40 ˚F) within 12 hours after Sikagard® AWB 600 FL has cured, unless Sikagard® AWB 960 AC is used.
To apply Sikagard® AWB 600 FL at min -4 ˚C (25 ˚F) and rising (air and substrate temperatures), thoroughly mix one-half of one quart of Sikagard® AWB 960 AC with one full pail of Sikagard® AWB 600 FL.

Spray Application

Apply using high-volume / low-pressure equipment capable of handling abrasive material. Equipment used to spray Sikagard® AWB 660 can spray Sikagard® AWB 600 FL. See the Spray Application Sikagard® AWB technical bulletin for more information.

Roller Application

A 19mm (3/4”) nap roller is recommended to apply Sikagard® AWB 600 FL. Pre-wet new roller pads and spin out excess water. This should be done once only to ensure that new roller pads are fully saturated with Sikagard® AWB 600 FL.
Keep the roller fully loaded with material. Work Sikagard® AWB 600 FL uniformly onto the wall, maintaining a wet edge.
