SikaBond®-626

FLEXIBLE HIGH-PERFORMANCE, FAST-TACK HYBRID POLYURETHANE ADHESIVE/SEALANT

SikaBond®-626 is a non-yellowing, one-component adhesive/sealant based on hybrid technology that provides a quick curing, elastomeric bond to a variety of materials. SikaBond®-626 offers excellent strength and can be used to eliminate mechanical fasteners and seal exterior and interior seams.

Shelf Life

Cartridges: 9 months when stored in unopened containers at 75° F (24° C) and 50% relative humidity

Storage Conditions

Protect unopened containers from heat and direct sunshine. In cool or cold weather, store containers at room temperature for at least 24 hours before using.

Application steps

NOTES ON INSTALLATION

  • Do not apply over freshly treated wood; its moisture content is recommended to be below 12%.
  • During the cure, SikaBond®-626 should not come in contact with oil-based caulking, silicone sealant, polysulfides, fillers impregnated with oil, asphalt, tar, and alcohol.
  • Do not apply on frozen surfaces or standing water
  • Avoid contact with water or alcohol before use and during the cure process
  • Make certain the most current versions of the product data sheet and SDS are being used.
  • Proper application is the responsibility of the user. Field visits by Sika personnel are for the purpose of making technical recommendations only and not for supervising or providing quality control on the jobsite.

SUBSTRATE PREPARATION

  1. Surfaces must be dry, clean, and free of dirt, moisture, loose particles, oil, grease, asphalt, tar, paint, wax, rust, waterproofing, or other substances that may affect adhesion.
  2. On metal surfaces, remove scale, rust, and loose particles.
  3. On painted metal, check compatibility before applying SikaBond®-626.

APPLICATION

  1. SikaBond®-626 is a low VOC adhesive that provides a fast, primerless bond with a short tack-free time. SikaBond®-626 bonds extremely well to a wide variety of substrates and requires minimal substrate prep. SikaBond®-626 is ideally suited for sealing interior/exterior joints, waterproofing, overlap seams, sealing fascia, and other structural components. SikaBond®-626 remains permanently elastic creating long-lasting bonds that will not discolor or degrade when exposed to UV.
  2. Surface temperatures above 40° F (4° C) are recommended at the time of application. SikaBond®-626 can be applied below freezing temperatures, but only if substrates are completely dry. For further information, call Technical Services.
  3. For low-temperature applications, store SikaBond®-626 at room temperature (approximately 70° F [21° C]) for at least 24 hours prior to use.
  4. SikaBond®-626 comes ready to use. Do not open cartridges until preparatory work has been completed. Trim nozzle to desired size opening. Place cartridge in caulking/adhesive gun and puncture seal inside nozzle.
  5. Dry tooling is recommended.

CLEANING OF TOOLS

Immediately after use, clean equipment with the appropriate solvent. Use proper precautions when handling solvents. Cured sealant can be removed by cutting mechanically or abrading
