SCOFIELD® Traction Additive

A clear lightweight coatings additive used to mildly texture and increase slip resistance with minimal change in appearance.  

SCOFIELD® Traction Additive is a lightweight synthetic coatings additive designed to increase slip resistance with minimal changes to coating color or appearance. It is easily incorporated into water or solvent based paints, stains, and sealers just prior to application. Lighter and less abrasive than ordinary sand aggregates, settling during application is reduced, a uniform appearance is more easily achieved, and surfaces are more comfortable to walk on.  

  • Increases slip resistance with minimal changes to coating color, gloss, or appearance.
  • Mixes into most solvent or water based coatings with reduced settling during application.
  • Less abrasive aggregate feels better under bare feet and is less destructive to clothing.

Usage

Use to improve the slip resistance of interior or exterior residential and commercial floors, stairs, ramps, pools, garages, platforms, or walkways. SCOFIELD® Traction Additive is suitable for use with all film forming Scofield products.

Consumption

Recommended Dosage

Depending upon desired texture, use one-half pound to two pounds (0.23–0.91 kg) of SCOFIELD Traction Additive with each five gallons (18.9 L) of Scofield paint, polymer stain, or sealer.

 
Application steps

EQUIPMENT

Refer to the coating instructions for proper application equipment. If spray equipment is used, filters and a tip sizes that allow SCOFIELD® Traction Additive to pass through are required.

APPLICATION

Mixing

Stir into paint, stain, or sealer prior to application following manufacturer's recommendations. During use, stir periodically to ensure uniform product distribution.
