SikaCem®-102 First Seal®

Reactive water-based silane-siloxane penetrating sealer for use on unsealed concrete or cementitious overlays

SikaCem®-102 First Seal® is a reactive water-based water repelling sealer for use on unsealed concrete or cementitious overlays. SikaCem®-102 First Seal® may be applied as soon as 24 hours after concrete placement. SikaCem®-102 First Seal® reacts with the concrete creating a water resistant surface and a hydrophobic interior, reducing water and chemical absorption and limiting the damaging effects caused by freeze-thaw cycling and de-icing salts. SikaCem®-102 First Seal® promotes excellent adhesion when applied prior to the application of SikaCem® acrylic sealers. Previously named Clear Guard® First Seal® Reactive Penetrating Sealer and SCOFIELD® Repello® FPS.

Usage

Application steps

APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS

SURFACE PREPARATION

 

Protect all areas not intended to be sealed from over spray, splash or wind drift. Concrete must be free of dirt, grease, oil residue, curing or sealing compounds and other substances that would diminish penetration. Surface should be clean, dry and absorbent. On stamped concrete be sure all release agents are thoroughly washed and scrubbed from the surface. Surface must be completely dry prior to application so that the material may absorb deep into the concrete.

 

MIXING

 

Mix at low speed. Do not create foam.

 

APPLICATION

 

SikaCem®-102 First Seal® should be applied at ambient conditions between 45-90°F (7-32°C) during application and 24 hours after. SikaCem®-102 First Seal® may be applied by roller, brush or spray. If applying by roller, a minimum of ½” nap is recommended. If spray applying, flood evenly with a fan pattern overlapping each pass. Spray application should be back rolled to eliminate any puddling. For extremely porous surfaces, a second coat may be required and must be applied within 8 hours of initial application.

 

Overlays
Two coats of SikaCem®-102 First Seal® are recommended.

 

Primer Application
Refer to application method above. SikaCem®-102 First Seal® shall be dry to touch prior to application of SikaCem® acrylic sealers.

 

MAINTENANCE

 

Wipe up all chemical solvent or petroleum spills as soon as possible. Remove abrasive debris by sweeping or vacuuming. Do not drag, drop or place sharp edges on concrete surfaces. Periodic washing with mild detergent will help maintain surface appearance. Do not use solvent or acid-based cleaning materials. If it becomes apparent that water is readily being absorbed into the concrete, it is time to reapply SikaCem®-102 First Seal® following instructions above. Do not apply SikaCem®-102 First Seal® if the concrete has been previously sealed.
