HOW TO APPLY

Every Sikafloor® Pronto system is a multiple component system that utilizes a methylmethacrylate (MMA) resin. It is critical that the instructions listed in the Safety Data Sheet and on the product label for every component of the system be read, understood and followed.

MMA resins are flammable liquids in their uncured state. Smoking, open flames, or sparks should not be permitted during the handling of the product. Explosion safe ventilation must be used during the application to minimize vapor collection in the installation area and to improve overall air quality for the crew. All foodstuffs must be removed during installation of the flooring system.

Sikafloor® Pronto systems are installed by approved contracting firms. The following is only a summary of the installation techniques used by Sikafloor® Pronto approved contractors.

• Do not apply at temperatures over 90°F (32°C) or below 32°F (0°C).
• Apply Sikafloor®-71 TC Pronto over the cured Sikafloor®-100 PAS Pronto for improved chemical, wear and UV resistance.
• Do not use in areas exposed to strong solvents (consult Sika Technical Services for further details regarding the compatibility with specific chemicals).
• Each application must be completely cured prior to the next application.
• Sikafloor®-100 PAS Pronto should be mixed prior to adding powder hardener as material can settle during storage.
• Protect or remove food items prior to application to avoid any possible contamination.
• Use clean pails when mixing to avoid the possibility of improper curing.
• Proper air flow is critical to properly curing methyl-methacrylate based materials. The use of fans is mandatory where air flow is restricted.
• Make certain the most current versions of product data sheet and SDS are being used.
• Proper application is the responsibility of the user. Field visits by Sika personnel are for the purpose of making technical recommendations only and not for supervising or providing quality control on the jobsite.

1. Concrete surfaces must be structurally sound and fully cured a minimum of 28 days. Conduct quantitative moisture testing in accordance with ASTM-F2659-10 utilizing Tramex type impedance moisture meter. Maximum acceptable test result is 5%. If in excess of stated value please contact your Local Sikafloor Technical Specialist or Sika Technical Support.
2. Use commercial degreaser to clean cove areas for oil, grease and other bond inhibiting materials.
3. All surfaces to receive the cove base mixture must be primed prior to the installation with the appropriate Sikafloor® Pronto primer.

Note: Installations over gypsum based substrates or previously coated materials are not recommended. Please consult your Sika Sales Representative or Sika Technical Services for further guidance as to suitable substrates for application of the cove base mixture.

Measure one quart of the Sikafloor®-100 PAS Pronto resin into pail and add proper amount of Sikafloor®-100 HD Pronto powder hardener. Mix with a spiral blade drill mixer for one minute or until the powder hardener is completely dissolved. Immediately add the proper amount of Sikafloor® Pronto Decorative Quartz TG colored quartz to the mixture and mix thoroughly for one minute.

1. Prime surface to receive Sikafloor®-100 PAS Pronto and seed with Sikafloor® Pronto Decorative Quartz TG while wet. See individual Sikafloor® Pronto flooring system installation guides for the flooring system to be installed for specific primer instructions.
2. Set a 1/8" termination strip at the desired height of the cove base to help ensure a uniform thickness for the slurry and will help provide a straight termination edge at the top of the base.
3. Once the primer has cured, install cove base mixture onto surfaces using a coving trowel. Apply sufficient pressure to the trowel to avoid any voids or air pockets in the cove base.
4. Allow a minimum of 45 minutes prior to applying any further topcoats. Cove base should be dry and cool to the touch.
5. Do not apply in thicknesses greater than 3/16" (4.8 mm). More than one application is required to achieve an installation of greater than 3/16" (4.8 mm).

Clean tools as needed with Sikafloor®-100 CLN Pronto. Collect and dispose of all site wastes according to appropriate regulations.
