Sika Flooring has made a donation of several different types of flooring products and systems to the West Chester, Pennsylvania community, along with Tailored Living of Wilmington DE to the Westtown Quaker Ice Hockey club. The rink was the popular hangout spot back in the late 70s and the grand opening of the new rink will bring back that community feeling thanks to many generous contributors.

THE SOUND AND FEELING of rumbling over crossing joints in warehouses, factories and retail complexes is familiar to most people. It can be uncomfortable and causes damage to forklifts and other wheeled vehicles. Even hospital patients have had to endure this unpleasant experience while being transported between facilities.

A recent article in the February 2016 edition of Health Facilities Management by Sherry Umhoefer and Chris Beebe of Comprehensive Pharmacy Services highlighted updates to the U.S. Pharmacopeial Convention (USP) 797 and 800 standards that will impact hospital pharmacy operations.

The ESD market is standards-driven: The electronics market worldwide is governed by the standard ANSI S20.20 and its identical European and Asian counterpart IEC 61340-5-2. As a result of the increasing sensitivity of electronic components and a vagary of ESD measurement in the workplace, the ANSI ESD S20.20 was changed in 2014 (effective January 2016) to reflect this.

According to the Society for Protective Coatings (SSPC), the Portland Cement Association (PCA) and many more organizations, moisture related floor failures are responsible for over 90% of all claims totaling over $1 billion annually in damages. These issues can occur immediately after placement of new concrete or, in some cases, many years down the road.

New Concrete - When placing concrete, there is always free water (water of convenience) in concrete mixtures within w/c 0.45 or higher. Often the ratio fluctuates up to 0.7:1 to improve workability. This amounts to approximately 1700 pounds of free water in 1,000 square feet of slab area at 4 inches thick.The excess water that exits the concrete can cause a newly applied coating to delaminate or form blisters. All of which results in coating failure.

Each year, approximately 48 million Americans are sickened by contaminated food with 128,000 requiring hospitalization and 3,000 of those cases resulting in death. The resulting yearly loss to the food and beverage industry due to food borne illnesses is estimated at $75 billion.
