Sustainable Flooring Strategy

Our strategy fully integrates sustainability into all of our business processes, and we strive to create value for our customers and partners.  

How Sika Flooring is Committed to Sustainability

Here’s an example of our commitment to minimizing our impact on resources by using innovative packaging configurations that minimize landfill consumption.  Many large installations are excellent candidates to have materials delivered in reusable Industrial Bulk Containers, commonly referred to as Totes, instead of standard smaller packaging.

37,800 One-Gallon Plastic Pails

Weighing 13,850 Tons - Out of Landfills.  

 

 That's enough to fill more than 11 basketball courts.

LEED

With the implementation of LEED v4 and the sunset of LEED 2009, questions have been raised concerning the areas where Sika’s Flooring products can help contribute to achieving LEED v4 Credits. There are currently three areas that Sika has evaluated where Flooring products could potentially contribute towards achieving LEED v4 points.

GreenCircle

Sika has developed Manufacturer Inventories to support our customers’ material ingredient chemical transparency initiatives and meet the requirements of LEED MR Credit: Building Disclosure and Optimization – Material Ingredients – Option 1. This Manufacturer Inventory has been third-party verified by GreenCircle Certified, LLC to follow the LEED v4 standard requirements and contributes to 1.5 credits under LEED v4.1.
