Sikafloor®-51 P Pronto

MEDIUM VISCOSITY METHYL-METHACRYLATE PRIMER FOR POROUS CONCRETE

Sikafloor®-51 P Pronto is a methyl methacrylate (MMA) primer for use within the Sikafloor® Pronto flooring systems. Sikafloor®-51 P Pronto is a solvent-free, 2-component, 100% reactive, medium viscosity primer. Sikafloor®-51 P Pronto has superior adhesion to concrete and is ideal as a primer or sealer for porous concrete surfaces. Sikafloor®-51 P Pronto should completely seal the concrete surface resulting in a uniform satin finish. Sikafloor®-101 AC Pronto accelerator should be utilized with Sikafloor®-51 P Pronto at temperatures below 32°F (0°C). Sikafloor®-102 AP Pronto bond promoter can be utilized with Sikafloor®-51 P Pronto as a suitable primer for tile substrate applications.

Coverage

All coverage rates are approximate. Coverage rates will vary with the desired texture and porosity of the substrate. Typically, a batch of Sikafloor®-51 P Pronto will achieve a coverage rate of 100 ft2 (9.3 m2).
Application steps

APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS

For Best Performance

  • Not for use at application temperatures over 90° F (32° C).
  • Not for use in areas exposed to strong solvents (consult Sika Technical Service).
  • Install at the recommended thickness to ensure proper curing and leveling.
  • Each application must be completely cured prior to the next application.
  • Protect or remove food items prior to application to avoid any possible contamination.
  • Use clean pails when mixing to avoid the possibility of improper curing.
  • Proper airflow is critical to curing MMA  materials. The use of fans is mandatory where airflow is restricted.
  • Apply a bond test every 500 – 1,000 ft2  (46.5 – 93 m2) prior to floor installation.

APPLICATION

Please refer to individual flooring system data sheets and Sikafloor Pronto Mixing Chart for batch size and application instructions. When coating over epoxy, Sikafloor®-103 IN Pronto must be used with Sikafloor®-51 P Pronto to ensure proper curing.

 

Every Sikafloor® Pronto flooring system is a multiple-component system that utilizes a methyl-methacrylate (MMA) resin. It is critical that the instructions listed in the Safety Data Sheet and on the product label for every component of the system be read, understood, and followed. MMA resins are flammable liquids in their uncured state. Smoking, open flames, or sparks should not be permitted during the handling of the product. Explosion-safe ventilation must be used during the application to minimize vapor collection in the installation area and to improve overall air quality for the crew. All foodstuffs must be removed during installation of the flooring system.
