Sikafloor®-53 TC Pronto

INDUSTRIAL STRENGTH METHYL-METHACRYLATE TOPCOAT RESIN FOR PIGMENTED FLOORING SYSTEMS

Sikafloor®-53 TC Pronto is a methyl-methacrylate (MMA) topcoat resin for use within the Sikafloor® Pronto flooring systems. Sikafloor®-53 TC Pronto is a solvent-free, 2-component, 100% reactive resin designed for roller-applied coatings and pigmented flooring systems. Sikafloor®-53 TC Pronto is a medium viscosity resin that is ideal for use as a pigmented topcoat and can be applied in a single application over suitable primers or self-leveling systems. Sikafloor®-53 TC Pronto is colorless, so the Sikafloor® PGM 155 Pronto Pigment will be necessary to create pigmented flooring systems. Sikafloor®-53 TC Pronto can also be used as a topcoat for decorative systems requiring a clear topcoat.

Usage

Used as a topcoat within the following Sikafloor® Pronto flooring systems:
  • Sikafloor® Pronto RB-1820 CP
  • Sikafloor® Pronto RB-1845 CP
  • Sikafloor® Pronto RB-1855 CP

Coverage

All coverage rates are approximate. Coverage rates will vary with the desired texture and porosity of the substrate. Please refer to the individual flooring system data sheets for coverage rate information. Typically, a batch of Sikafloor®-53 TC Pronto will achieve a coverage rate of 80 - 100 ft2 (7.4 - 9.3 m2).

Every Sikafloor® Pronto flooring system is a multiple-component system that utilizes a methyl-methacrylate (MMA) resin. It is critical that the instructions listed in the Safety Data Sheet and on the product label for every component of the system be read, understood, and followed. MMA resins are flammable liquids in their uncured state. Smoking, open flames, or sparks should not be permitted during the handling of the product. Explosion-safe ventilation must be used during the application to minimize vapor collection in the installation area and to improve overall air quality for the crew. All foodstuffs must be removed during installation of the flooring system.

 

For Best Performance

  • Not for use at application temperatures over 90° F (32° C).
  • Not for use in areas exposed to strong solvents (consult Sika Technical Service).
  • Install at the recommended thickness to ensure proper curing and leveling.
  • The topcoat must be back-rolled immediately to ensure a uniform finish.
  • Protect or remove food items prior to application to avoid any possible contamination.
  • Use clean pails when mixing to avoid the possibility of improper curing.
  • Proper airflow is critical to curing MMA materials. The use of fans is mandatory where airflow is restricted.
  • Apply a bond test every 500 – 1,000 ft2 (46.5 – 93 m2) prior to floor installation.
  • Sika flooring specialists are available to assist you in the selection of the proper flooring system. Call for in-house and field technical assistance.
  • Make certain the most current versions of the product data sheet and SDS are being used.
