Sika® FloorJoint S

FLEXIBLE FLOOR JOINT REPAIR PANEL

Sika® FloorJoint S is a polymer panel used to repair or replace damaged concrete floor joints. Its unique wave joint design allows it to flex with the adjoining slabs and eliminates point loading at the edges of the floor joint. Sika® FloorJoint S is ideal for joints in new construction or to repair existing floor joints.

Usage

Flexible panel to repair or replace foor joints in concrete slabs on new construcion and renovation projects. Engineered for joints in concrete   floors with normal to heavy wear such as factories, kitchens, maintenance workshops, hospitals, schools and warehouses.

Storage Conditions

The product must be stored in original, unopened and undamaged sealed packaging in dry conditions at temperatures between 75°F (5°C) and 95°F (35°C) and must always be stored in the horizontal position in order to avoid bending. Always refer to packaging.

  1. Width of the gap in the concrete below Sika® FloorJoint panel during installation.
  2. Positive joint movement is the amount the gap can open, compared to its original width during installation of Sika® floor Joint panel. Do not exceed the maximum positive joint movement capacity, otherwise the teeth of the Sika® floor Joint panel become unsupported and may be damaged.
  3. Negative joint movement is the amount the gap can close, compared to its original width during installation of the Sika® floor Joint panel.
  4. The sealant may break at a positive joint movement of ~10–15 mm, however this does not affect the technical performance of Sika® FloorJoint S. The purpose of the joint sealant is the reduction of dirt pick-up in the joint, not to provide water tightness. Install Sikadur® Combiflex® SG System below Sika® FloorJoint S if a waterproof joint design is required.

Application steps

APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS

APPLICATION

  • Cut parallel lines to a total of 9 3/4'' wide.

  • Chisel out saw cuts ensuring a minimum depth of 2.5 mm (0 .975 inches or approximately 975 mils).

  • Make sure the existing concrete edge will not be damaged from the removal process.

  • Remove all loose dirt, dust, debris. and free of all contaminations such as grease, coatings, oils etc.

  • Ensure the concrete substrate must be sound.

  • Place the panels in the opening to ensure proper fit. cut to length.

  • Place closed foam cell backer road into concrete joint , makeing sure the rod is below the surface of the prepared concrete.

  • Mix Sikadur 31 in accordance with the data sheet.

  • Apply Sikadur 31 in the cut out using the adjustable trowel to distribute the adhesive 3/4'' below the elevation of the concrete floor.

  • Apply Sikadur 31 to the bottom of the sika floor joint using 1/4'' V notched trowel to avoid entrapped air when placing the panels.

  • install the panels in to the freshly placed adhesive.

  • Press on panel to ensure complete contact with all of the adhesives.

  • The panel should lower or equal to the elevation of the adjacent concrete substrate.

  • After curing of the adessive, grinding may be necessary to ensure an even transition

  • Grout/fill the edges so no voids remain. remove excess grout material to reduce the amount of grinding needed.

  • After the adhesive and grout has cured, grind the panel and substrate to ensure a smooth transition.

  • After grinding the panel, coat with flooring system or seal with Sikafloor 304 W NA.
