Built in 1924, the Yorktowne Hotel was instantaneously considered a centerpiece of downtown York PA. This monumental hotel embodied the fast-paced nature of the everchanging city with 11 stories featuring an elegant ballroom, 20 ft ceilings and ornate decor that mirrored the Renaissance revival style of the roaring ’20s.

The hotel was purchased in December of 2015 by the York County Industrial Development Authority (YCIDA) and was on track to be part of Hilton’s Tapestry project. After over 90 years of service, the hotel was officially shut down for renovations in November of 2016.

The project was broken into 3 phases; demolition, core and shell and interior fit-out, with the repair phase being the most involved part of the project. The hotel is now expected to open in May of 2021 and the 123 room hotel will now be fully ADA accessible as well as include a grand 3,000+ sq ft restaurant.

This hotel is expected to bring over 100 new jobs to the city of York which will expand the downtown area and allow people to stay 365 days a year. Bringing this hidden jewel to its former glory brings pride to York’s residents and Sika is honored to be a part of this project restoration!
