Sikalastic® Clearglaze is designed for fast curing. High temperatures combined with high air humidity will increase the curing process. Material
in open containers should be applied immediately. Opened containers; the material will form a film after 1–2 hours approx. (at 75 °F (24 °C) and 50 % R.H.)

General: Ensure surface is clean, sound and dry. It is important to make sure that all organic growth (mildew, moss, lichens, algae, etc.) be completely removed prior to coating application. Sikalastic® Clearglaze is typically self-priming, but the use of a Sikalastic® primer appropriate for the substrate may be required to achieve adequate adhesion.
 
Asbestos Cement and Asbestos-free Equivalents: Always ensure strict compliance with Health and Safety requirements when working with asbestos-containing materials. Extra care must be taken when cleaning since any shading/scuffing of the surface will show through the coating.
 

Brick, Terra Cotta, Block and Stone: Apply coating direct to clay bricks, cement bricks and blocks, terra cotta, and decorative stone.

Cementitious Materials: Concrete and stucco must be a minimum of 14 days old before application. An adhesion test is recommended to verify adhesion, particularly before applying to highly porous substrates such as aggregate panels.

Glass Glazing: Ensure surfaces are clean and degreased before application. Apply to plain and reinforced glass, leaded windows, glazing strips and roof lights. A reduction in optical clarity is to be expected. Sikalastic® Clearglaze is not intended to recoat painted metal frames, as the existing paint may discolor and delaminate.

Fiberglass Resin/Plastic Glazing: An adhesion test is recommended to verify the adhesion and confirm compatibility. Remove any oxidized layers. A reduction in optical clarity is to be expected. Sikalastic® Clearglaze is not intended to recoat painted metal frames, as the existing paint may discolor and delaminate.

Metals: Ensure surfaces are clean, rust-free, and degreased before application. An adhesion test is recommended to verify adhesion. Remove field-applied paints and coatings for best performance.

Slate and Tile: Apply coating direct to slate and tile roofs to alleviate water absorption.

Mixing is not required.

Apply by soft nylon or natural bristle brush, or by medium pile sheepskin roller, phenolic resin core roller, or foam roller at the recommended rate. Rough, porous, absorbent surfaces will require the use of additional coating. Always allow any primer and Sikalastic® Clearglaze coats to dry/cure thoroughly before applying the following coat. Coating will generally require an overnight cure, although under optimal conditions (higher temperatures and higher relative humidity) two coats in one day may be possible. Do not thin, brush out, or overwork. Best results are obtained when the full mil thickness is applied at one time and limited work is performed to the coating. When applying multiple coats, apply the following coat at right angles to the application of the previous coat.
 

Removal
Remove wet coating with acetone, xylene or cellulose thinners and a clean cloth. Do not use alcohol-containing solvents. Once cured, coating can only be removed by mechanical means. Strictly follow solvent manufacturer’s warnings and instructions for use.
