SikaMix® HC-300

PLASTICIZING ADMIXTURE

SikaMix® HC-300 is a non-swipe producing plasticizing and compaction aid admixture for the manufacture and production of drycast concrete products.

SikaMix® HC-300 is an integral concrete compaction aid admixture that acts as a cement dispersant and reduces water demand. It allows the use of cement reduction or replacement with supplementary cementitious materials while maintaining similar strengths and workability.   SikaMix® HC-300 also results in:  
  • Increased efficiency of dispersion and distribution of cement, additives and pigments,
  • Improved compaction, concrete density development, and durability,
  • Improved early and final strength,
  • Sharper, more defined edges that are less likely to chip,
  • Reduced breakage and culls,
  • Reduced wear and extended mold and machine life due to internal lubricating properties,
  • Reduced need for higher curing temperatures to maintain early strength.
  SikaMix® HC-300 does not contain intentionally added chlorides

Usage

SikaMix® HC-300 is a compaction aid admixture for use in drycast concrete products, and is effective in concrete containing Portland Limestone Cement (PLC/Type IL) and supplementary cementitious materials.

Shelf Life

Shelf life when stored in original packaging in dry warehouse conditions between 40°F and 80°F (5-27°C) is one year from the date of manufacture.

Storage Conditions

SikaMix® HC-300 should be stored above 40°F (5°C). If frozen, thaw and agitate thoroughly to return to a normal state. Protect from direct sunlight.

Mixing

As SikaMix® HC-300 is a low dosed admixture, and since the majority of drycast concrete will have a very low water cement ratio and/or moisture content, it is necessary to provide sufficient mixing time to allow the admixture to be distributed throughout the entire batch and provide uniform performance. The actual time depends on individual circumstances and should be determined by trials.

 

Measure the required quantity manually or by automated dispenser. Add SikaMix® HC-300 with the batching water or at the end of the mixing process. Do NOT mix SikaMix® HC-300 up front or directly with dry cementitious materials. When used in combination with other admixtures dispense each admixture separately into the mix.

 

Compatibility: SikaMix® HC-300 can be used in combination with other Sika admixtures and can be successfully used in mix designs utilizing supplementary cementitious materials.

 
Consumption

Recommended Dosage

The typical dosage rate of SikaMix® HC-300 will vary between 2-10 fl oz / 100 lb. (130-650 mL / 100 kg) of cement or cementitious materials.

 

Trial mixes with the actual materials should be conducted to determine the required dosage for optimum performance.

 

To the extent specialized materials are used, extreme ambient temperatures are encountered, or for other unusual project conditions, dosage rates outside the typical range may be required. For dosage rates outside the typical range, please contact your local Sika representative or the Sika Technical Services Department at 1-800-933-7452.
