Application
Coverage
Part 1 and Part 2 mixed through an approved low pressure pump cart will produce the following coverage rates:
10 gallon (18.9 L) box set: 2,500 - 3,000 ft2 (232 -279 m2)
30 gallon (56.7 L) drum set: 7,500 - 9,000 ft2 (697 - 869 m2)
100 Gallon (189 L) drum set: 25,000 - 30,000 ft2 (2,323 - 2,787 m2)
Coverage estimates indicate total square feet of insulation attachment per set. Rates are based on an application pattern of four 1/2” to 3/4” (1.3 cm to 1.9 cm) ribbons spaced 12” (30 cm) on center per 4 ft x 4 ft (1.2 m x 1.2 m) insulation board. NOTE: A 1/2” - 3/4” (1.3 cm - 1.9 cm) wide uncured adhesive bead will produce a 2” - 3” (5.1 cm – 7.6 cm) wide cured adhesive bead that will rise approximately 3/4” – 1” (1.9 cm - 2.5 cm) above the substrate. Coverage rates may be lower when used over irregular surfaces and will vary depending on roughness.
SUBSTRATE PREPARATION
All surfaces must be clean, dry, and free of dirt, grease, oil, or other contaminants or particulates. All concrete surfaces must be cured prior to applying Sarnacol® AD Board Adhesive.
APPLICATION
Apply Sarnacol® AD Board Adhesive with an approved low pressure pump cart or pump system.
Approved equipment includes:
- Millennium Cyclone low pressure pump cart
- Graco Reactor E-10
- Graco Predator
- Adhesive Systems Technology GMP-075
- Adhesive Systems Technology PCH GMP-500
Drum sets should be placed on a drum roller or agitated prior to use. Spray Part 1 and Part 2 at a 1:1 ratio.
Always ensure that the Part 1 and Part 2 containers are always hooked to the same dispensing holders or hoses (i.e. do not reverse the dispenser holders and hoses between Part 1 and Part 2). The connector colors must match.
All valves on the dispensing unit must be completely opened so a 1:1 ratio is achieved when moving the adhesive through the disposable mix tip and onto the substrate in a semi-liquid state. When starting a new set, dispense some adhesive into a waste container to achieve a proper mix.
Apply the Sarnacol® AD Board Adhesive directly to the substrate. Apply adhesive in 1/2" (13 mm) to 3/4" (19 mm) wide wet beads in a ribbon pattern. Ribbon spacing will depend on the wind uplift rating required. The wet beads will quickly spread to a width of 2" (51 mm) to 3" (76 mm).
Allow Sarnacol® AD Board Adhesive to begin rising and place the boards into the adhesive before the adhesive has skinned over. Walk boards in, ballast if necessary to eliminate uneven surfaces and ensure positive contact between the boards, adhesive and substrate. Adhesive open time varies depending on weather conditions. Unused adhesive can be applied at a later date by simply replacing the mixing tip.
