Membrane application:

 Apply the catalyzed resin to the prepared surface. Place Sikalastic® Rapid Fleece PMMA into the liquid resin, ensuring the fleece is smooth and without any wrinkles. The fleece will begin to saturate with the liquid resin. Roll the fleece with a nap roller applying light pressure to eliminate air bubbles, wrinkles, etc. Add additional liquid resin mix on top of Sikalastic® Rapid Fleece PMMA until the fleece is fully saturated and the resin layer is uniformly applied. Allow a 2 in (5 cm) overlap at the side laps and 4 in (10 cm) at all flashing tie-ins and end laps.

Flashing application:

• Pre-cut Sikalastic® Rapid Fleece PMMA to fit around the penetration. Vertical flashing pieces must extend 2" (51 mm) from the base onto the horizontal and horizontal flashing pieces must extend 4" (10.2 cm) out from the base of any penetration. Flashing height should be a minimum of 8" (20.3 cm). Horizontal flashing fleece pieces must extend a minimum of 4" (10.2 cm) beyond the leading edge of the penetration, or a minimum of 2" (51 mm) beyond the edge of the fastening plate. Add 2" (51 mm) for the overlap with adjoining pieces.
• Once the edges of the fleece are determined, mark a line on the membrane ½" (13 mm) beyond the edge of the fleece and apply painter’s tape. This will accommodate the ½" (13 mm) of non-reinforced Sikalastic Rapid resin needed to terminate to the membrane.
• With the tape in place, clean the membrane within the area using Sika's Seam Cleaner, acetone, or methyl ethyl ketone (MEK) including the plates and the penetration.
• Mix and apply catalyzed resin. Refer to the individual Sikalastic Rapid resin product data sheets for mixing instructions and application procedures.
• Using a small ½" (13 mm) nap roller with rounded edges or 2" (51 mm) disposable paint brush apply catalyzed Sikalastic Rapid resin onto the penetration up to the finished flashing height and 2" (51 mm) onto the membrane.
• Embed the pre-cut vertical Sikalastic® Rapid Fleece PMMA into the wet resin. Use the roller or brush to eliminate wrinkles and air bubbles while completely saturating the Sikalastic® Rapid Fleece PMMA. Apply additional catalyzed Sikalastic Rapid resin at the 2" (51 mm) overlap between the vertical Sikalastic Rapid Fleece layers.
• Apply catalyzed Sikalastic Rapid resin onto the membrane extending slightly onto the painter's tape. Also coat the 2" (51 mm) fingers from the vertical Sikalastic Rapid Fleece.
• Embed the pre-cut horizontal Sikalastic Rapid Fleece into the wet Sikalastic Rapid resin. Use the roller or brush to eliminate wrinkles and air bubbles while completely saturating the Sikalastic Rapid Fleece. Apply additional catalyzed Sikalastic Rapid resin at the 2" (51 mm) overlap between the horizontal Sikalastic Rapid Fleece layers.
• Apply catalyzed Liquid resin over the entire exposed vertical and horizontal Sikalastic Rapid fleece terminating at the finished flashing height on the vertical and onto the painter's tape on the roof. Make sure the fleece is fully saturated without any dry spots.
• Remove the painter's tape immediately after applying the final layer of catalyzed Sikalastic Rapid resin.
