Sika® Stabilizer-5010 TBM US

RETARDING / WATER-REDUCING ADMIXTURE FOR CEMENT / BENTONITE INJECTION GROUTS

Sika® Stabilizer-5010 TBM US is a retarding and water-reducing admixture for cement or cement / bentonite injection grouts, commonly used in backfilling operations during tunnel excavation with shielded tunnel boring machines (TBMs).

  • Ensures controlled workability of the cement or cement / bentonite grout for up to 72 hours.
  • Allows for the pumpability of the retarded and stabilized grout, and helps reduce segregation.
  • Does not contain calcium chloride or any other intentionally added chlorides.

Usage

  • Supplied in liquid form and is added into the cement grout during the mixing process.
 
  • Retarding effects allow for the cement or cement / bentonite injection grout to have an extended setting time of up to 72 hours.

Recommended Dosage

The correct dosage must be determined by preliminary testing. Pre-trials should be executed to confirm correct dosage with the equipment and shotcrete that is intended to be used. Dosage rates will vary depending on the cementitious material used in the grout, ambient conditions and the requirements of a specific project.
For general cement and cement / bentonite injection grout applications, Sika recommends a dosage rate between 0.4 - 2 US gal per cubic yard of grout (2-10 L per m3 of grout). Dosage rates outside the recommended range may be used where extreme ambient conditions are encountered or unusual project conditions require special consideration. Where extended retardation is required dosage may be increased. In any case, please contact your Sika STM Technical Representative for further information and project specific dosage recommendations.
Application steps

MIXING

Add Sika® Stabilizer-5010 TBM US at the grout plant during mixing. Measure required quantity manually or by automated dispenser. Add directly into the wet grout near the end of the mixing cycle.


Combination with other Admixtures: Sika® Stabilizer-5010 TBM US works effectively as a single admixture or in combination with other Sika® admixtures. When used in combination with other admixtures, care must be taken to dispense each admixture separately into the mix.  Do not mix with dry cement.
