Sika® PerFin-305

SURFACE ENHANCING AND AIR DETRAINING ADMIXTURE

Sika® PerFin-305 is a concrete admixture formulated to enhance finished concrete surfaces and/or reduce the air content of concrete. Sika® PerFin-305 meets the requirements of ASTM C494/AASHTO M 194, Type S.

Sika® PerFin-305 is formulated to provide a concrete surface free of open pores and other surface defects.      Sika® PerFin-305 also provides:      
  • Improved aesthetics and uniformity of concrete,
  • Improved concrete durability,
  • Reduced risk of concrete rejection due to surface quality related issues,
  • Reduced labor required for surface patching.
  Sika® PerFin-305 can also be used for the purpose of reducing the total air content of concrete.    In non-air entrained concrete mixes, Sika® PerFin-305 can be added to minimize undesired air content.    In air entrained concrete mixes, Sika® PerFin-305 can be used two ways. It can be used to reduce the total air content to meet the project requirements or it can be used prior to the addition of a standard air entraining admixture.     When used in air entrained concrete mixes, it is recommended to perform trial evaluations to verify the quality of the air-void system and to ensure the concrete meets the plastic and hardened project requirements.    Sika® PerFin-305 does not contain intentionally added chlorides.

Usage

Sika® PerFin-305 is designed for use in concrete requiring minimal surface defects or when the reduction of air content is desired. Sika® PerFin-305 is suitable
for use in a variety of concrete mixes and effective in concrete containing Portland Limestone Cement (PLC/Type IL) and supplementary cementitious materials.

Shelf Life

Shelf life when stored in original packaging in dry warehouse conditions between 40°F and 80°F (5-27°C) is six months from the date of manufacture.

Storage Conditions

Sika® PerFin-305 should be stored above 40°F (5°C). If frozen, thaw and agitate thoroughly to return to normal state. Protect from direct sunlight.

Application

Application Information

Mixing

Measure the required quantity manually or by automated dispenser. Add Sika® PerFin-305 directly into the mixing water or to the freshly mixed concrete at the end of the batching cycle. Do NOT mix with dry cement. Sika® PerFin-305 may be dispensed on-site directly prior to placement. Care must be taken to mix thoroughly. When used in combination with other admixtures, dispense each admixture separately into the mix.

  

In cases when Sika® PerFin-305 is stored in bulk tanks, periodic checks of dispensing lines are recommended to prevent product leakage. Use only oil resistant gaskets and hoses. Sika® PerFin-305 may cause deterioration of rubber.

  

Compatibility: Sika® PerFin-305 can be used in combination with other Sika admixtures and can be successfully used in mix designs utilizing supplementary cementitious materials.
Consumption

Recommended Dosage

The typical dosage rate of Sika® PerFin-305 to improve surface appearance may vary up to 7.5 fl oz / 100 lb. (490 mL / 100 kg) of cement or cementitious materials. The effectiveness of Sika® PerFin-305 for improving surface appearance depends on concrete mix design, cleanness of form work, and form release agent. The dosage rate required for air-entrained concrete mixes will typically be less. Various factors will affect the dosage rates.

  

Trial mixes with the actual materials should be conducted to determine the required dosage for optimum performance.

  

To the extent specialized materials are used, extreme ambient temperatures are encountered, or for other unusual project conditions, dosage rates outside the typical range may be required. For dosage rates outside the typical range, please contact your local Sika representative or the Sika Technical Services Department at 1-800-933-7452.
