Usage

  • SikaWall®-1015 Poly-bond is for use as a basecoat and adhesive for expanded polystrene foam shapes. These shapes are typically used as exterior decorative trim such as pop-outs, plant-ons, cornices and quoins.
  • SikaWall®-1015 Poly-bond is available in Coarse Sand aggregate for maximum keying strength and Fine Sand aggregate for smooth textures. SikaWall®-1015 Poly-bond is also available in machine finish.

Chemical Base

A polymermodified portland cement-based product. Available in Fine (30 mesh), Coarse (20 Mesh), and Machine Grade.

Shelf Life

15 months

Storage Conditions

  • Store in a cool, dry place, off the ground, protected from freezing, rain and moisture.
  • Store at no less than 40°F (4°C)
  • Do not stack pallets.

Mixing Ratio

Approximately 1 to 1.5 gallons of cool, clean, potable water for each 50 lb. bag.

Pot Life

Pot life is 1–2 hours after water has been added. Please note, open time is affected by humidity and temperature.
Consumption

Coverage

Approximate coverage as a basecoat, when applied according to manufacturer’s recommendations, is 50 to 70 sq. ft./50 lb. bag.
Application steps

SURFACE PREPARATION

  • Stucco, masonry and concrete - Apply only to surfaces that are sound, clean, dry, unpainted, and free of any residue which may affect the ability of SikaWall®-1015 Poly-bond to bond to the surface.
  • Do NOT apply SikaWall®-1015 Poly-bond in freezing weather or to frozen substrates.
  • For additional options for surface preparation, contact Sika Facades Technical Support.

MIXING

  • Use clean equipment for mixing and preparation.
  • SikaWall®-1015 Poly-bond requires approximately 1 to 1.5 gal of cool, clean, potable water for each 50 lb. bag.
  • Add approximately 3/4 of the required water and mix using a mechanical device such as an electric drill until the powder is thoroughly wet.
  • Add the remaining water needed, per Application Instructions, and blend for a total mixing time of 5 minutes.
  • Allow material to stand for five minutes, then remix to break the initial set.
  • Use SikaWall®-1015 Poly-bond immediately after mixing.
  • No other additives of any kind, such as portland cement, lime, rapid binders, antifreeze, accelerators, pigments, etc., should be added under any circumstance.
 

APPLICATION

  • Read the entire label before using this product.
  • For use as an Adhesive: After initial mixing add sufficient water and mix to a heavy, paste-like consistency. Apply approximately 1/4” of SikaWall®-1015 Poly-bond to the back of the foam shape and press into place on the pre?moistened portland cement substrate.
    Please note: SikaWall®-1015 Poly-bond has sufficient adhesion to hold most shapes in place. Larger shapes might require additional support.
  • Allow a minimum cure period of 24 hours BEFORE performing any additional work on the adhered shape.
  • For use as a basecoat: Machine or hand apply a coating of approximately 3/16” to 1/4” to the foam shape. Embed fiberglass mesh in the basecoat to increase impact resistance. Allow a minimum cure period of 24 hours before applying a SikaWall® exterior finish over the SikaWall®-1015 Poly-bond coated EPS shape. For best results apply a coat of SikaWall®-73 Adacryl Admix & Bonding Agent to the cured SikaWall®-1015 Poly-bond surface before applying the exterior finish.
  • It is recommended to use fiberglass mesh over entire surfaces of foam shapes to increase impact resistance.
