Baltimore, MD
The roof of the Walters Art Museum in Baltimore, MD was originally installed over 20 years ago. The owner and design team from Wiss, Janney, Elstner were evaluating options to extend the life of the exiting roof without complete removal which would require to close the museum for several weeks. In addition to the main roof, the gutters at the front of the building also needed a new waterproofing system. The roof top had a considerable amount of equipment and a liquid applied membrane was the only option to work around the complex geometries and create a long lasting waterproofing membrane.Sikalastic RoofPro has been used on other parts of the roof at The Walters Art Museum and after positive infrared scan, Sikalastic RoofPro system has been selected for the re-cover as well as the gutter lining.
PROJECT SOLUTION
The Sikalastic RoofPro system allowed the contractor to work under the existing AC units with < 10" headspace, creating a 100 % seamless and fully adhered waterproofing membrane that conformed perfectly to the most complicated details. As a result, the owner did not only get a new roof backed up with Sika's 20 year waterproofing guarantee, he will enjoy the benefits of a solar reflective roof which will save a lot of energy.
