LightGUARD®/HeavyGUARD®
When the ultimate protection of your Sika Sarnafil roof membrane is required, look no further than the LightGUARD or HeavyGUARD products. Perfect for protecting the membrane from severe weather such as hail, LightGUARD/HeavyGUARD is a composite modified concrete top layer bonded to extruded polystyrene insulation. The LightGUARD/HeavyGUARD board is installed directly on the separator sheet over the completed Sika Sarnafil roof system making the membrane completely protected from hail or roof top traffic. Both LightGUARD and HeavyGUARD come with a 2”-3” thick polystyrene insulation board. LightGUARD then has a 3/8” thick composite concrete layer while HeavyGUARD has a 15/16” thick composite concrete layer.
Below are some of the reasons why the LightGUARD or HeavyGUARD might be the best fit for your project.
Lightguard/Heavyguard Insulation
Lightguard/Heavyguard panels provide both insulation and heavyweight ballast all in one. Panels are composed of 2 or 3 inches of Dow Styrofoam with a 3/8” to 15/16” latex-modified concrete topping on a 2’x4′ tongue-and-groove panel.
LightGUARD/HeavyGUARD ADVANTAGES:
- Roof membrane protection
- Increased impact resistance
- Ideal for hail and excessive roof top traffic
- Interlocking boards
- Available in a red, gray, green, and tan
- UL listed 1256, 790
"Reverse" Your Way of Thinking
By simply reversing conventional design and placing the insulation above the membrane rather than below, the cause of many life shortening roofing problems can be eliminated. This unconventional arrangement of roofing material is commonly referred to as the “upside-down” roof system or Protected Membrane Roofing (PMR) system. In all areas of the building envelope, the moisture barrier is placed on the warm side of the insulation, with one exception – a conventional roof system. In a PMR system, the insulation is placed above the waterproof membrane to protect it from the harsh rooftop environment.
