What is Product Transparency?
With phrases such as “environmentally friendly” and “green products” being used to describe a large portion of the items we all buy nowadays, it can be difficult to know which products truly are good for the environment and which ones are just adding to all of the “green washing”. This is why customers in the construction industry as well as many others are now asking for manufacturers to be more transparent with their products from a full life circle “cradle to grave” point of view, such as ingredients, manufacturing, life expectancy, disposal/recycling, etc.
Sustainable Minds Transparency Catalog
Sustainable Minds is making it easy to find and specify greener and healthier products for your building or project. Instead of spending weeks or months researching individual manufacture websites and weeding through all of their documents, you can now find the brands and products in minutes with a summary of all of their sustainable information in an easy to understand format that is consistent for all products listed. Sarnafil Environmental Product Declarations:
Environmental Product Declarations or EPDs for short are a third party verified and registered document that communicates the environmental impact of a product. Creating an EPD is voluntary and there are a few different versions depending on how much of the products life-cycle the manufacturer wants to disclose such as “Cradle to Gate” or “Cradle to Grave”, the later disclosing the full circle of a products life.
Sika Sarnafil is the only thermoplastic roofing manufacturer to offer the fully disclosed “Cradle to Grave” EPD for their roofing membranes. Choose the document below to learn more about why Sika Sarnafil membranes are some of the most environmentally friendly.

Sikalastic Environmental Product Declarations:
Environmental Product Declarations (EPD’s) are a third party verified document that discloses the environmental impact of a product or system while completing a Life Cycle Analysis (LCA). Creating an EPD is a completely voluntary process with two main options based on how much of the product's life-cycle a manufacturer chooses to disclose: “Cradle to Gate” and “Cradle to Grave.” “Cradle to Grave” discloses the full circle of a product’s life and is the more comprehensive of the two LCA’s.
The Sikalastic RoofPro products are the only liquid applied roofing and waterproofing systems to offer a fully disclosed “Cradle to Grave” EPD. Sika is committed to constantly improving product lines to lower environmental impact and create safer products.
In order to support comparative assertions, this EPD meets all comparability requirements stated in ISO 14025:2006. However, differences in certain assumptions, data quality, and variability between LCA data sets may still exist. As such, caution should be exercised when evaluating EPDs from different manufacturers or programs, as the EPD results may not be entirely comparable. Any EPD comparison shall be carried out at the building level per ISO 21930 guidelines. The results of this EPD reflect an average performance by the product and its actual impacts may vary on a case-to-case basis. Below are the available EPD’s for Sikalastic-641 Lo-VOC and Sikalastic-644 Lo-VOC Roofing and Waterproofing Systems.
