Sikaplan® Single-Step Membrane Adhesive
Sikaplan® Single-Step Membrane Adhesive is an emulsion adhesive used for Sikaplan Adhered roofing systems. Sikaplan Single-Step Membrane Adhesive is formulated for adhering Sikaplan membranes as a wet lay in to clean, dry, water absorbent, horizontal roof surfaces with slopes up to 2" per foot (10°). Consult latest technical bulletins or contact Sika-Roofing Technical Department for steep slope or other methods of application.

MIXING
Mix well before use with a drill and mixing blade.
APPLICATION
General Application:
Sikaplan Single-Step Membrane Adhesive is designed for a “wet lay in”. Care must be taken to ensure the adhesive has not skinned over or dried before the membrane is laid in place. This is especially important during applications at high temperatures. Adjustments may be needed in the application technique to ensure a wet lay in. It is recommended that only 3 ft - 4 ft (0.9 m - 1.2 m) of adhesive is coated out ahead of the membrane to prevent dry laid membrane. Clean any wet adhesive from the seams before welding. Roll the membrane into the adhesive while it is still wet being careful to avoid wrinkles. Immediately begin brooming to work out any air bubbles starting at the center of the membrane and brooming to the sides with a medium bristle push broom. After brooming, roll the membrane in two directions with a minimum 75 lb (34 kg) steel roller.
Roller Application:
Apply the adhesive only to the substrate and not the membrane using a 3/8" - 1/2" (9.5 mm - 12.7 mm) medium nap roller up to 18" (45.7 cm) wide. The adhesive is poured onto the substrate in ribbons followed by rolling and spreading evenly.
Spray Application:
The airless sprayer must be able to generate pressure up to 3000 PSI (207 Bar) and should be able to deliver a minimum of 1.5 GPM (5.6 L/min). Larger spray units will allow for longer hose runs and increased production. The hose should be a minimum of 1/2" (12.7 mm) diameter with a 3/8" (9.5 mm) whip 10 ft (3.1 m) long leading up to the gun. Sikaplan Single-Step Membrane Adhesive has a high viscosity and may clog the filters of the airless sprayer. It is recommended that all filters in the spray rig and spray gun be removed and cleaned at the end of each day. Use a minimum tip size of 0.027" - 0.035" (0.68 mm - 0.88 mm), however the tip size can be increased to 0.045" (1.1 mm) for greater throughput. Apply the adhesive using a fan pattern determined by the user. A wide fan pattern will cover more area faster but may be more difficult to control and may be more prone to overspray. Generally, a fan pattern of 10" - 12" (25.4 cm - 30.5 cm) wide held 12" (30.5 cm) off of the substrate is recommended.
