Vapor Retarder Primer BE is a bituminous emulsion (water based) primer

Vapor Retarder Primer BE is a bituminous emulsion (water based) primer used to prime concrete and approved gypsum boards prior to the application of Sika’s torch-applied or hot-applied vapor retarders. Particularly recommended when the use of solvent-based primer is not advised and/or not permitted.

Enhanced adhesion strength between primed substrates and Sika’s torch-applied or hot applied vapor retarders.

Usage

Primer used prior to the application of Sika’s torch-applied or hot-applied vapor retarders.

Shelf Life

Vapor Retarder Primer BE has a shelf life of 24 months in the original sealed container when kept from freezing temperatures.

Storage Conditions

Store Vapor Retarder Primer BE in a tightly closed container at temperatures between 41°F and 104°F (5°C and 40°C).  Keep from freezing.

Drying Time:  1 - 12 hours depending on temperature and quantity applied

Coverage

The coverage rate will range from 125 - 200 ft2/gal (0.2 - 0.3 L/m2) depending on the porosity of the surface.
Application steps

SUBSTRATE PREPARATION

All surfaces should be clean, dry, free of dirt, dust, debris, oils, and other contaminants.

MIXING

Vapor Retarder Primer BE must be mixed well before use. Do not dilute.

APPLICATION

Apply Vapor Retarder Primer BE with a squeegee or roller and allow primer to dry completely. Eliminate any air bubbles that may appear on the surface of the primer using a back and forth motion of the squeegee or roller.

Dry primer should not transfer to the finger tips when touched. Apply membrane within 24 hours of primer application. Reprime area if primer becomes contaminated.
