Volunteers spend a day picking up trash and landscaping at a local park.

Working with Rebuilding Together Boston, local Sika Roofing and Emseal employees volunteered their time on September 20, to clean up Pope John Paul II Park in Boston.

A former landfill, Pope John Paul II Park is a 66-acre space and features a playground, picnic area, and multiple walking paths. It is also located on the  Neponsit River, an important watershed for Boston and surrounding towns. Employees helped to keep the water and park clean by picking up garbage along the riverbanks and performing landscaping.

Sika considers itself a leader in roofing sustainability and emphasizes  protecting natural resources and minimizing the impact on the environment. Service events like this one serve as a reminder of  the sustainable initiatives Sika strives for while also allowing team  members to give back to their local community.

The event also continued the relationship between Sika and Rebuilding Together, who have partnered on multiple service projects, including Community Service Day events during the International Roofing Expo and with the local Boston chapter on other projects. Rebuilding  Together is a national organization that works with local community members and leaders to revitalize communities.
