Dallas, TX
PROJECT DESCRIPTION
Dallas County planned for a renovation of the Dallas County Records Building Complex, which includes three historic buildings. Built from 1915 to 1955 this complex is a landmark with distinctive architecture and rich with storied history.
UNIQUE PROBLEM
The project’s main goal was to keep the building intact with its historic significance while modernizing it for efficiency. Part of the challenge to make the roof more energy efficient was to revive it without tearing it off and replacing it.
PROJECT SOLUTION
Sikalastic®-641 LoVOC liquid applied roofing system, reinforced with Sika® Fleece was used as a recover over the existing, aging, modified bitumen roof. Sika® Reemat Premium was also used as a versatile, conformable solution to waterproof and preserve the unique vertical and horizontal detail conditions. The RoofPro system also provides the solar reflectance the existing roof could not. This high-quality sustainable solution will provide cost effective energy savings and protect the roof for years to come.
